The Keystone-Monon
Neighborhood Partnership was formed in February of 1995. It is run
by residents of the area in cooperation with local authorities and
organizations whose mutual goal is the betterment of the community.
The purpose of this organization is to maintain
open lines of communication within the neighborhood as well as between
residents and the resources available to assist them. In doing this,
we feel the neighborhood becomes stronger and more stable for the
long term.
When compared to some of the neighboring organizations,
we are young. Just six years old. But within the past six years,
we have kept our goals and projects attainable. And have consistently
completed the projects we have undertaken. We regularly respond
to residents' questions about certain issues and assist in directing
them to the proper authorities.
KMNP has a small but energetic core of members
who work hard, with the only reward being a hardy handshake and
the knowledge that they've done something nice for the area. It
is important to remember that we need as many neighbors involved
as possible. There is no limit to what we can accomplish if we have
a large number of INVOLVED members.
KMNP Main Events (Click here to go to the calendar page to see this year's dates for the events below)
- Neighborhood Garage Sale
- KMNP hold the sales in June and always on a Saturday. They
have been successful and have helped with name recognition for the
association. We ask for a $5 donation per household. We promote
the sale on local "community calendars" through ads in the newspaper.
We put up signage and distibute signs to participating residents.
This is a large undertaking and volunteers are needed to make this a successful and enjoyable event.
- Spring Cleanup -
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful provides the supplies and the packer
truck or dumpster. This year we will be coming through the neighborhood
with a packer truck to pick up debris and trash. In the past we
have used a stationary dumpster, which has meant that residents
have to come to us instead of the other way around. Volunteers are always needed!
- National Night Out, is
held on the first Tuesday in August - A neighborhood cookout/pitchin.
A nice way to meet neighbors and make new friends. Opportunity to
speak with IPD officers as well. KMNP provides the grilled hot dogs
and refreshments. Bring any side dish, dessert or snack. Or just
bring yourself. Location: Arsenal Park. In case you don't know,
the park's boundaries are 46th Street (south), 49th Street (north)
and Indianola (east) and Haverford (west).
- We are always looking for suggestions for other
activities. Low cost or no cost ideas are especially welcome, since
our budget is limited. Your input is needed and appreciated!
